How to focus on the future with talentsmoothie

Research and Insights

At talentsmoothie we are leading researchers and commentators on generational diversity, the digital generations, Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z, baby boomers, the ageing workforce and the new world of work. Our experience and on-going environment-scanning and research means we are ideally placed to help you tackle the inescapable challenges that demographic shifts and technological changes have already begun to create. Did you know, for example, that in the UK over the next 10 years there will be 13.5 million job vacancies, but only 7 million school and college leavers to fill them? Did you also know that there is an untapped source of people who can potentially fill this gap? Download our FREE Position Paper ‘Four generations: leadership problem or opportunity?’ below. Gain immediate insight into the opportunities being created as organisations are propelled to transform, and learn how you can stay ahead of the game.

Workshops and Seminars

We’re famous for our generational diversity seminars and workshops and we’re often invited to speak at client conferences on topics like ‘Gen Y: What they want from work’ or ‘the Ageing Workforce: What’s your Strategy?’. Our sessions are engaging and generate vibrant discussion and encourage innovative thinking. We often get ’11/10′ on our feedback forms! We also specialise in creating bespoke expert-facilitated sessions for your organisation to tackle any specific questions you may have or challenges you may be facing right now or anticipate in the future. Do you want to know how to attract and retain a segment of your workforce, or how to have win-win conversations about retirement, or how to be a great leader in these times of rapid change? We can create workshops or seminars for your business leaders, your managers or your employee teams. If you need fresh ideas or to push thinking forward in your organisation, talk to us. We can help.

Consultancy

Change is relentless and the landscape in which we work is constantly shifting. To stay ahead of the competition you need to innovate. What got you this far won’t get you where you need to go. You’ll need to create an innovative, collaborative, networked and diverse culture to take you into the future. We understand this changing world of work and can help you to assess the impact on your business and create the case for change. Did you know it’s estimated that 40% of the US workforce will be freelance by 2020; perhaps we could help you develop a strategy to make a career in your organisation more attractive than being a freelancer? Or help you understand what hinders innovation in your company? Or help you test whether your Employee Value Proposition or ‘people deal’ is as future proof as it might be? At talentsmoothie we welcome all opportunities presented by the future and we’d love to help you feel confident and excited about yours.

Four generations in the workplace: leadership problem or opportunity?

generational diversity position paper talentsmoothie

Our free-to-download Position Paper explores the latest generational diversity issues now being faced by organisations, with four (and soon to be five) generations of employees in the workplace. It gives an enlightening overview and provides a useful check-list to assess how well your organisation is coping with this demographic shift. The Paper explains why and how the generations are different and looks at three key leadership challenges, and the opportunities they present, in more detail. We’ve identified these to be: (1) Managing the expectations of the Millennial Generation; (2) Making the most of your older Baby Boomer workforce; and (3) Leveraging diversity by enhancing cross-generational team work. Get our future-focused insight in this FREE download.

Did you know?

The median age of the worlds population is 28. By 2050 it will be 38. In Europe it will be 47, China 45, and North America and Asia 41.
To keep the proportion of workers in the total population constant over the next three or four decades, the retirement age in advanced economies will have to increase by seven years.
55% of employers say they don’t talk about retirement with employees. Employees think it’s more like 80%. We’ve dubbed retirement the R-Word™.
Flexibility — in work location and working hours —  is a top priority for all generations.
89% of Gen Ys say that being able to do work that excites them is the most important factor to them in a job or career.
50% of graduates suggest more help is needed from employers to help them choose which career they are suited to, as well as which company is the best fit. There is a sea of sameness out there.
